Pelomyxa

PELOMYXA, so named by R. Greeff, a genus of Lobose Rhizopoda, naked, multinucleate, with very blunt rounded pseudopodia, formed by eruption (see Amoeba), often containing peculiar vesicles (glycogen?), and full of a symbiotic bacterium.

It inhabits the ooze of decomposing organic matter at bottom of ponds and lakes.
